Ibiza for The Solo Traveller: a Friday-to-Monday weekend
White walls, salt flats, and a rock that hums.
The weekend that is entirely yours. Counters instead of tables, a morning hike before anyone is up, a gallery at opening, and the freedom to change the plan at noon.
Friday: First swim
- Cala Salada and Cala Saladeta
Walk over the rocks to the second cove for a swim as the day-trippers leave; the water is the colour the postcards promise.
- Sunset at Cap Nunó
A rough track up to the cliffs for a sunset without a bar or a DJ; take a torch for the way down.
- Can Pou
A stool at the village bar and a plate of whatever the kitchen has left, with the regulars arguing about football.
Saturday: Coast path
- Hike Cala d'Hort to Cala Carbó
A clifftop route past Torre des Savinar and the quarry, with Es Vedrà alongside all morning; three hours with the detours.
- Cala Carbó swim
A pebble cove with clear water and two restaurants; swim out to the point and back before lunch.
- Bar at Sa Punta
Counter seat, grilled squid, and the harbour lights across the bay; the walk back round the marina is twenty minutes.
Sunday: The other island
- Ferry to Formentera
Thirty minutes to La Savina, rent a bike at the dock and head south before the day boats land.
- Cycle to Es Cap de Barbaria
A straight road through dry stone walls to the lighthouse at the end of the world; look for the hole in the rock.
- Can Rafalet
Fish and rice at a restaurant in the cove at Es Caló on Formentera, before the ferry back to Ibiza. Check the ferry time before you order.
Monday: North shore
- Portinatx to Cala d'en Serra
A short coastal walk to a near-empty cove with a ruined hotel and good snorkelling; back before the sun is on the path.
- Sant Joan village
A coffee on the plaza of the island's least touristed village before the airport, with the church and a bar and not much else.
- Giri Café
Garden lunch from the restaurant's own vegetable plot, a last slow hour under the fig tree before the drive south.
